Competition calendar

  • Registration closes on Sunday, 15 November 2026 at midnight (CET). It will no longer be possible to register after this date.
  • From 16 to 22 November 2026, organisers and players will prepare and coordinate the match schedule.
  • The tournament begins on Monday, 23 November 2026.

Eligibility and venue access

  • Entry is open to everyone, regardless of experience or skill level.
  • All matches take place in Room 510 R-027.
  • Participants must hold valid access to the CERN site.

Standard match conditions

  • Matches are played one versus one.
  • Platform: PlayStation 5.
  • Game: EA Sports FC 26, standard Classic Match mode.
  • Each half lasts five minutes.
  • PlayStation 5 controllers are provided.
  • All equipment must be handled carefully and respectfully.

Group stage

  • The exact format may be adapted to the number of registered players.
  • The home player selects the team.
  • Both players compete using the same team.
  • Group matches do not include extra time or penalties.
  • Win: 3 points
  • Draw: 1 point
  • Loss: 0 points
  • If players finish level on points, positions are determined by goal difference, then goals scored, then the head-to-head result.

Final stage

  • A preliminary round may be organised depending on the number of entrants.
  • The knockout bracket follows group-stage seeding: first versus eighth, second versus seventh, and so forth.
  • The lower-ranked player receives the team-strength advantage.
  • Star limits are announced in advance for every pairing.
  • Example: in a first-versus-eighth fixture, the first seed may be limited to a 3.5-star team while the eighth seed may use a 5-star team.
  • Each tie is played over two legs.
  • Away goals carry no additional value.
  • If the aggregate score is level after the second leg, extra time and, if required, a penalty shoot-out determine the winner.

Podium and awards

  • A dedicated third-place match will be played.
  • Surprise prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place finishers.
